Data Scientist : Content Characterization

At Autodesk, we are reshaping the future of the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) industry with innovative solutions powered by AI. We're leading the charge in integrating Generative AI, cloud-native technologies, and advanced 3D modeling into our world-renowned applications—AutoCAD, Revit, Construction Cloud, and Forma. As we continue this transformation, we're looking for Data Scientists who are passionate about solving real-world challenges and driving the future of design and engineering workflows.

Your Role:

As a Data Scientist on the AEC Solutions team, you'll work on cutting-edge AI models that enhance the workflows in the AEC industry. You’ll collaborate with a diverse group of AI researchers, machine learning engineers, software architects, and designers to generate and interpret design data that augments the way people design, build, and create.

This is a unique opportunity to work in a high-impact environment, contributing to the development of foundation models and generative AI tools that push the limits of AI in architecture and engineering.

What You'll Do:

  • Data Analysis & Visualization: Dive into large datasets to produce visual insights and reports. Transform complex data into meaningful visualizations that tell a story.
  • Build Machine Learning Models: Develop and deploy machine learning models for the AEC domain, optimizing workflows, data lakes, and processing pipelines.
  • Collaborate with Cross-Functional Teams: Work with Product Managers, AI Researchers, and Engineering teams to ensure that your insights lead to actionable solutions. You’ll collaborate to integrate data-driven decisions into the product development lifecycle.
  • Experiment Design: Lead experiments to test hypotheses and answer critical business questions that shape the future of AEC tools and workflows.
  • Data Pipeline Development: Build and optimize data pipelines for data cleaning, transformation, and modeling at scale.
  • Industry Impact: Work on projects that directly enhance Autodesk’s flagship products, AutoCAD, Revit, and Construction Cloud, as well as the groundbreaking Forma Industry Cloud.

What We’re Looking For:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Education: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Business Analytics, or any related field.
  • Technical Expertise: Proficiency in Python and familiarity with key data science libraries (Pandas, SciPy, SciKitLearn, NLTK).
  • Data Analysis Skills: Experience with data analysis, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques (e.g., regression, classification, clustering).
  • Relational Data: Solid understanding of SQL and relational data modeling.
  • Cloud Technologies: Willingness to learn cloud platforms like AWS Sagemaker to build, train, and deploy models.
  • Communication Skills: Strong written and visual communication skills to clearly convey insights to stakeholders and leadership.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • AEC Focused: Passionate about solving challenges in the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction space. You’ll bring AI-driven solutions that change the way AEC professionals work.
  • Adaptable and Curious: Comfortable learning new technologies and adapting to evolving project requirements in a fast-paced, innovative environment.
  • Data-Driven Storyteller: Excellent at communicating findings using visualizations and data-driven storytelling to influence decisions and create understanding.
  • Collaborative: Able to work seamlessly with teams across engineering, product management, and design, bringing everyone on board with your data insights.
  • Innovative Problem-Solver: You don’t just solve problems, you think outside the box to find the most effective and innovative solutions.
  • Ambitious & Resilient: Ready to tackle challenges head-on, take calculated risks, and learn from your experiences.

Why Autodesk?

  • Shape the Future: Work on products that are revolutionizing the AEC industry. Your contributions will directly impact how buildings, infrastructures, and cities are designed and built.
  • Cutting-Edge Technology: At Autodesk, you’ll be working with some of the most advanced technologies in AI, cloud computing, and 3D modeling.
  • Inclusive Culture: We believe in creating an environment where everyone can thrive and contribute. Your unique perspective will help shape our innovative products.
  • Work-Life Balance: We support a hybrid work environment that allows you to balance collaboration with autonomy.
  • Competitive Compensation & Benefits: From health insurance to generous retirement plans, we offer a comprehensive benefits package. For U.S. roles, base salaries range from $136,000 to $220,000, with additional bonuses and stock grants.

Ready to Create the Future of AEC?

At Autodesk, we empower people to create their world. As a Data Scientist with Autodesk, you'll not only help shape the next generation of design tools but also have the chance to build a career at the forefront of AI innovation.

If you’re passionate about transforming data into impactful decisions and eager to join a team that’s changing the way the world builds, we want to hear from you.
