About the Role:YouTube is a platform that thrives on creativity, diversity, and user-generated content, and we are looking for a passionate and forward-thinking Product Manager to join our Trust and Safety team. In this role, you will drive the safety, scalability, and ethical development of Generative AI technologies to ensure that YouTube remains a trusted space for all its users. As part of our dynamic and rapidly evolving team, you will directly influence how generative technologies impact content, communities, and policies, ensuring that they foster a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead Generative AI Safety Initiatives: Drive the development and enhancement of safety measures that govern the use of generative AI technologies on YouTube, including detecting harmful content, misinformation, and malicious activities.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineers, data scientists, policy experts, and other product managers to define, build, and implement product solutions that ensure safety and uphold YouTube’s community guidelines.
• Innovate and Evolve AI Technologies: Explore new ways to leverage Generative AI in content moderation while mitigating risks such as bias, misuse, and adverse societal impacts. You will lead the development of tools to prevent generative AI models from creating inappropriate content.
• Analyze and Adapt: Continuously monitor the performance of safety protocols and implement improvements based on user feedback, industry trends, and emerging risks associated with AI-generated content.
• Policy and Ethics Oversight: Collaborate with legal and policy teams to ensure all safety measures comply with global regulatory standards and YouTube’s internal ethical guidelines. Help influence the policy landscape surrounding the use of Generative AI on the platform.
• User Education and Communication: Work with content teams to develop resources that educate creators and users on how to use generative AI responsibly, and communicate safety measures transparently to the wider YouTube community.

Basic Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Product Manager in technology or AI product development, particularly in safety, trust, or content moderation domains.
• Deep understanding of generative AI technologies and their potential impact on online platforms.
• Experience with cross-functional teams, managing the full product lifecycle from ideation to launch.
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to navigate complex ethical and technical challenges.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex ideas to diverse audiences.
• Experience with AI safety, policy, or ethics in the tech industry is a plus.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Advanced degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science, Data Science, AI Ethics).
• Previous work on AI-driven products, particularly in content moderation, security, or safety technologies.
• Experience working with large-scale user-generated content platforms like YouTube.
• A passion for fostering safe online communities and understanding of the challenges involved in balancing freedom of expression with safety.
