Job Description: We are seeking an experienced Senior Tableau Administrator to lead the installation, configuration, and migration of Tableau infrastructure from scratch, focusing on cloud and on-premise architecture. You will be instrumental in designing a strategic roadmap for Business Intelligence (BI) platforms, separating existing infrastructure, and supporting the migration of users. This role requires a deep understanding of Tableau and experience managing complex architectures across cloud and on-prem environments.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Architect & Deploy Tableau Solutions: Lead the installation, configuration, and implementation of new Tableau instances, both on-premise and in the cloud. Migrate and transition existing infrastructure while ensuring minimal disruption.
- Cloud & On-Premise Architecture: Design and manage the complex architecture, with a focus on hybrid environments (cloud + on-prem). Expertise in cloud platforms like AWS and Azure is essential.
- Infrastructure Separation & Migration: Support the separation of infrastructure, users, and data as part of large-scale transitions (e.g., Worldpay separating from FIS), ensuring a smooth and secure migration process.
- Backup, Recovery & Security: Ensure the new Tableau instances have strong backup, disaster recovery processes, and security configurations (including Active Directory integration for SSO).
- Collaborate with SMEs: Work closely with technical subject matter experts (SMEs) to separate infrastructure, support the transition process, and establish new environments.
- BI Roadmap Development: Oversee the development and implementation of the strategic BI roadmap, driving best practices for data management, performance tuning, and operational excellence.
- Platform Support & Maintenance: Perform routine Tableau maintenance tasks, including patching, upgrades, backup restoration, and performance optimization.
- User Management: Manage users, groups, roles, and permissions to ensure the seamless transition of users between Tableau Server environments.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with key stakeholders to understand data requirements and ensure that Tableau aligns with broader business objectives.
- Leadership: Provide mentorship and leadership to the BI platform team, fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
What You Bring:
- Experience: 4-5 years of hands-on experience in Tableau Server installation, configuration, upgrades, and troubleshooting. Experience with complex architectures, migrations, and both cloud and on-prem environments.
- Cloud Expertise: Proven experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure) for BI tools and Tableau deployments.
- BI Tools: Proficiency with other BI tools (IBI WebFOCUS, ThoughtSpot) is beneficial but deep experience in Tableau is mandatory.
- Disaster Recovery & Security: Strong knowledge of backup and disaster recovery processes, as well as integrating Tableau with Active Directory for SSO.
- Data Management: Understanding of SQL, metadata management, and integrating Tableau with various data sources such as Snowflake.
- Leadership Skills: Experience leading platform teams, managing user migration, and overseeing infrastructure transformations.
- Excellent Communication: Ability to engage with stakeholders, manage expectations, and provide technical and non-technical guidance.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Tableau Certification is a strong plus.
- Experience in other BI tools like WebFOCUS and ThoughtSpot is a bonus.
Added Bonus if You Have:
- Experience with Snowflake or Big Data technologies.
- Expertise in Active Directory integrations and role-based access control in Tableau.
- Tableau, WebFOCUS, or ThoughtSpot certifications.
